Baseball Game Preview: St. Agnes Aggies vs. St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders

The St. Agnes Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Agnes has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Agnes' last matchup with Concordia Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Aggies lost 12-4 to the Beacons. The Aggies haven't had much luck with the Beacons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Bennett Bamsey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between St. Croix Lutheran and New Life Academy, and New Life Academy kept the tradition alive. The Crusaders came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 8-1. The contest marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Croix Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Kasa, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

St. Agnes' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for St. Croix Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Agnes has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Croix Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

St. Agnes skirted past St. Croix Lutheran 7-5 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aggies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
