Softball Game Preview: Fisher Gators vs. Covington Lions

The Fisher Gators will head out to square off against the Covington Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Gators fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They came out on top against Academy of Our Lady by a score of 10-6 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Jessie Schutt, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Alaina Martinez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Covington earned a 5-1 win over Fontainebleau on Saturday.

Fisher suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Covington when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Fisher avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
