Basketball Recap: Covenant C Comes Up Short

Covenant C was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 66-54 loss to the Falcon Christian Academy Warriors.

Falcon Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyree Wright, who posted 23 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. The matchup was Wright's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrett Dean, who dropped a triple-double with 14 points, 20 boards, and ten blocks.

Covenant C's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Falcon Christian Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Covenant C will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fayetteville O at 7:45 p.m. on the 20th. As for Falcon Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oak City Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
