Softball Recap: Middlesex Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Middlesex had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Mathews on Thursday. The Chargers never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Magen Daniels made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Middlesex got a massive performance out of Kayleigh Moye, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Moye has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Libby Oliver, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Middlesex has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mathews, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Middlesex does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mathews, they will take on Colonial Beach at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
