Football Game Preview: Owensboro Red Devils vs. Marshall County Marshals

Owensboro has gone a perfect 6-0 against Marshall County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marshals at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Owensboro's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

On Friday, Owensboro really took it to Apollo for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Owensboro can attribute much of their success to Evan Hampton, who rushed for 189 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and DaMarcus Ganaway Jr, who threw for 196 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. Hampton has become a key player for the Red Devils: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. A healthy portion of Ganaway Jr's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Kingston Dillard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Owensboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 50.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 209.

Meanwhile, Marshall County had just enough and edged out Muhlenberg County 23-21 on Friday.

The victory got Marshall County back to even at 3-3. As for Owensboro, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Owensboro beat Marshall County 21-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Marshals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
