Basketball Game Preview: Pasquotank County Panthers vs. Camden County Bruins

Pasquotank County hasn't had much luck against Camden County recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Panthers will challenge the Bruins at 8:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pasquotank County not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 3rd (when they won 82-53). They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 61-32 win over Gates County. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 24-point advantage.

Pasquotank County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Datravion Simpson out in front who went 7-for-16 en route to 14 points and three steals. Those 14 points gave Simpson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Branden Smith, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Camden County played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 83-57 to Currituck County. The Bruins were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.

Pasquotank County has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 54.5 points this season. As for Camden County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Pasquotank County couldn't quite finish off Camden County in their previous meeting back in February and fell 61-58. Thankfully for the Panthers, Xzavior Wiggins (who posted 22 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
