Softball Game Preview: Waverly Central Tigers vs. Geneva Knights

The Waverly Central Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Geneva Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Waverly Central has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight losses, while Geneva will come in with four straight wins.

Waverly Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Karns on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 5-4.

While Geneva didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Trinity Prep last Thursday.

Geneva's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Bastian, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Geneva's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Waverly Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
