The Harford Tech Cobras will take on the Perryville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harford Tech's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Perryville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Monday just wasn't the day for Harford Tech's offense. They fell just short of North East by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The Cobras haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Lyric Strong was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Perryville entered their tilt with Havre de Grace on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 7-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Taegan Spier made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Spier was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Julianna Reffit and Taylor McGuirk did most of the damage at the plate: Reffit went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while McGuirk went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Reffit a new career-high.
Perryville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Perryville's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Harford Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Everything went Harford Tech's way against Perryville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Harford Tech made off with an 8-2 win. Will the Cobras repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
