Softball Recap: Crab Orchard Beats Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Crab Orchard made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Crab Orchard put the hurt on Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton with a sharp 11-1 win on Monday. The Trojans' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Adri Ortega spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Drew Besheres was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Addlyn Miller, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Besheres wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Crab Orchard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.

Crab Orchard's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Crab Orchard will venture away from home to face off against Galatia/Thompsonville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crab Orchard will need to watch out since Galatia/Thompsonville has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
