Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wauseon

Wauseon came out on top against Edgerton on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Indians walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Bulldogs. The win was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on three straight.

Thad Reckner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Altstaetter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one triple. He has become a key player for Wauseon: the team is 4-1-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ike Conrad, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Wauseon now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Edgerton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9-1 record this season.

Wauseon will challenge Tinora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Edgerton, they will square off against Bryan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
