Football Recap: St. David Tigers vs. Hayden Lobos
St. David and Hayden squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but St. David had to settle for second. They were dealt a 53-6 defeat at the hands of the Hayden Lobos. The Tigers were red-hot offensively headed into the matchup (they scored no less than 31 points in the ten games prior) but the Lobos' defense proved too tough.
Vincent Ciccariello threw for 38 yards on five of 16 attempts.
Gannon Carrafa was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground,
Cedar Haynie rushed for 72 yards.
Hayden's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kino Lorona, who picked up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Lorona also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making ten total tackles. Tyler Garner was in the mix as well, providing Hayden with two touchdowns.
With the loss, St. David broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2. As for Hayden, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
St. David does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hayden, they will challenge Bagdad at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bagdad knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight matches -- so hopefully Hayden likes a good challenge.
