Football Recap: Bishop Neumann Piles Up the Points Against St. Cecilia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Neumann). They blew past the St. Cecilia Bluehawks 43-0 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Bluehawks are ranked 89th).

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Bishop Neumann, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Quin Schutt, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The win keeps Bishop Neumann at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.8 points on average this season. As for St. Cecilia, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Neumann will take on Palmyra at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for St. Cecilia, they will face off against Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Bluehawks their first taste of in-conference action this season.
