Basketball Recap: Douglass Takes a Loss

Douglass lost against East English Village Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Douglass Hurricanes might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 67-57 to East English Village Prep, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joe Tate continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for East English Village Prep, putting up 33 points. The dominant performance gave Tate a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Hill, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Douglass' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for East English Village Prep, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Looking ahead, Douglass will take on Chandler Park Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th. One thing working in Douglass' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for East English Village Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 82-62 loss against King on the 7th.
