Baseball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

With a playoff win on the line, River Ridge/Scales Mound rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Orangeville Broncos. The Wildcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 4th (when they won 10-0).

River Ridge/Scales Mound let Aidan Soppe and Hamish Boden run wild. Soppe got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Boden got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Boden has become a key player for River Ridge/Scales Mound: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Smith, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

River Ridge/Scales Mound's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14. As for Orangeville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-20.

As of now, neither River Ridge/Scales Mound nor the Broncos have any future games scheduled.
