Preview: Schurr Spartans vs. Leuzinger Olympians
The Schurr Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Leuzinger Olympians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Schurr blew past Bell Gardens, posting a 75-34 win on the road. Given Schurr's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while Bell Gardens is ranked 1224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Leuzinger entered their tilt with Hawthorne with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Leuzinger blew past Hawthorne 86-31 on the road on Thursday. Leuzinger has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Godspower Otuonye and Malachi Knight were among the main playmakers for Leuzinger as the former dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds and the latter scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Otuonye has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Stephen Charles, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Schurr and bumps their season record up to 15-12. As for Leuzinger, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
