Softball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. Highland Trojans

Griffith hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Griffith's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Hanover Central hitters got past them. The Panthers came up short against the Wildcats on Thursday, falling 11-1. The Panthers were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Wildcats' pitcher proved too tough.

Cheyanne Fant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and seven unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Griffith saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Kubaszak, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Highland's offense. They lost 8-0 to Munster on Thursday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

Highland's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Griffith, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
