The Holy Cross Lutheran Academy Crusaders will head out to square off against the Geneva Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Holy Cross Lutheran Academy has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Geneva will arrive with nine straight victories.
Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Crooms Academy last Monday, falling 16-1.
Carlos Otero made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Geneva won against Merritt Island Christian on Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Geneva blew past Orlando Christian Prep 11-4. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Jeremiah Kavanah made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Trenton Johnson and Tyson Hilliard did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Hilliard went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Hilliard a new career-high. Wyatt Strokes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Geneva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orlando Christian Prep only posted an OBP of .355.
Geneva pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. As for Holy Cross Lutheran Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Holy Cross Lutheran Academy might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from Geneva in their previous matchup back in February. Can Holy Cross Lutheran Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
