Soccer Game Preview: Queensbury vs. Peru

The Queensbury Spartans will face off against the Peru Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Queensbury's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Queensbury is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Broadalbin-Perth on Wednesday. The Spartans fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1.

Queensbury's goal came courtesy of Leonardo Lega, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Peru had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Considering Peru have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Peru's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Queensbury, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Queensbury was able to grind out a solid victory over Peru in their previous meeting back in August of 2016, winning 3-1. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Nighthawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
