Basketball Game Preview: Oakland Military Institute Grizzlies vs. Drew Dragons

The Oakland Military Institute Grizzlies are taking a road trip to square off against the Drew Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Drew took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakland Military Institute, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Oakland Military Institute took their matchup with ease, bagging a 64-24 win over Summit Tamalpais. The contest marked the Grizzlies' most dominant victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Drew lost to Gateway at home by a 69-50 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 945th, while the Gators are ranked 362nd).

Oakland Military Institute will need focus on slowing down Lukas Wrobel, one of several Drew players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 for 6 en route to 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Those 11 points gave Wrobel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Ordonez Reyes, who posted seven points in addition to five assists and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Drew and nudges their season record down to 7-13. As for Oakland Military Institute, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Oakland Military Institute was dealt a bruising 69-23 defeat at the hands of Drew in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Oakland Military Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
