Baseball Game Preview: Williamstown Yellowjackets vs. Roane County Raiders

The Williamstown Yellowjackets will take on the Roane County Raiders at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Roane County will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Williamstown extended their winning streak to five on Friday. Everything went the Yellowjackets' way against South Harrison as they made off with a 10-2 victory. Ten seems to be a good number for the Yellowjackets as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Roane County earned a 17-13 victory over Braxton County on Thursday. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Roane County got a massive performance out of C KINDER, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The Raiders are undefeated when KINDER posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was N JETT, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Roane County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Williamstown, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.

Everything went Williamstown's way against Roane County when the teams last played back in May of 2019, as Williamstown made off with a 19-9 victory. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
