Baseball Recap: Evans Trojans vs. Jones Fightin' Tigers

Evans was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jones Fightin' Tigers. The Trojans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Fightin' Tigers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Adrian Rojas put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Zachary Reinert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Cj Daniels was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Evans' loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Jones, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-8.

Evans will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th. Jones also won't see the field for a while: their next contest is against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th.
