Basketball Recap: Royal Valley Comes Up Short

If Royal Valley was riding high fresh off their 71-44 takedown of Chapman on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Royal Valley Panthers received a blow on Friday as they fell 76-58 to the Santa Fe Trail Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Chargers are ranked 25th).

Royal Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-2 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Santa Fe Trail, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Royal Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 0-0 tie against Rock Creek on the 25th. Santa Fe Trail has also already played their next game (against Chapman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
