Baseball Game Preview: Glenbrook South Titans vs. Evanston Wildkits

Glenbrook South and Evanston are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildkits at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Glenbrook South put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over Hersey. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Glenbrook South got a great performance from Charlie Kurcz as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. Kurcz also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Titans are 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, James Dooman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has become a key player for Glenbrook South: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Evan Bonnell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Evanston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Glenbrook North on Wednesday. The Wildkits not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 21-3).

Glenbrook South's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Evanston, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
