Soccer Recap: Summerville's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After flying high against Hilmar last Friday, Summerville came back down to earth. The Summerville Bears fell just short of the Liberty Ranch Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bears came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Hawks are ranked 267th).

With the defeat, Summerville broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2. As for Liberty Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-1.

Summerville and Merced will compete for holiday cheer at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Merced's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Liberty Ranch will take on Amador in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Liberty Ranch is facing Amador at the right time seeing as Amador is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
