Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Calvert Hall suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Archbishop Spalding by a score of 54-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calvert Hall in their matchups with Archbishop Spalding: they've now lost nine in a row.
Calvert Hall's defeat came about despite a quality game from Brendan Johnson, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That was a full 55.8% of Calvert Hall's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alijah Hamond, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
John Carroll's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Calvert Hall, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
John Carroll beat Calvert Hall 78-65 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds.
