Basketball Game Preview: Sheldon Huskies vs. Pleasant Grove Eagles

The Sheldon Huskies will challenge the Pleasant Grove Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sheldon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Sheldon turned things around against Cosumnes Oaks on Friday. They skirted past the Wolfpack 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since November 27, 2024.

Sheldon relied on the efforts of Brooklin Kimmons, who went 9 of 20 en route to 19 points and six rebounds, and Saniah Wiley, who posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. With that strong performance, Wiley is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayloni Knowlton, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove hadn't done well against Franklin recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pleasant Grove breezed by Franklin to the tune of 63-35. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Sheldon's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Pleasant Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Sheldon and Pleasant Grove were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but Sheldon came up empty-handed after a 30-29 defeat. Can Sheldon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
