Hunt and Fike are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hunt's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Fike's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Hunt sidestepped South Johnston for a 5-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Stone Massey looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Barnes Willoughby, who went 4-for-5 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Doll, who went 3-for-6 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-1 to East Wake. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 24, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Hunt's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fike, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hunt has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fike struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hunt came out on top in a nail-biter against Fike when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
