Baseball Recap: New Deal Gets the Win

On Thursday New Deal's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Ropes Eagles. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 13-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Easton Calzada and Colt Ramsay did most of the damage at the plate: Calzada scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Ramsay went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Lane Proctor was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

New Deal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

New Deal's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Ropes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

New Deal has already played their next match, a 6-4 loss against Littlefield on the 6th. As for Ropes, they will take on Dimmitt in a tournament on Friday.
