Flag Football Game Preview: San Leandro Pirates vs. Encinal Jets

The San Leandro Pirates will head out to square off against the Encinal Jets at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (San Leandro 8.3, Encinal 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, San Leandro came up short against James Logan and fell 20-12. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Colts are ranked 91st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Encinal). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 31-0 win over Piedmont. Winning may never get old, but the Jets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The victory got Encinal back to even at 3-3. As for San Leandro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

San Leandro ended up a good deal behind Encinal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 28-12. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
