Basketball Recap: Jersey Panthers vs. Mascoutah Indians
The Jersey Panthers lost against the Mascoutah Indians back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Jersey received a tough blow as they fell 48-31 to the Indians. Jersey has struggled against the Indians recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Jersey lost, one person who can't be blamed is Francis Vogel. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Brunaugh, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Jersey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Mascoutah, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jersey will face off against the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carrollton is on a three-game streak of home losses, the Panthers a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Mascoutah, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
