Basketball Recap: Lakes Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lakes won the last time they faced Grant Community and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 69-62. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Lakes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Newcomb led the charge by shooting 69% from the field to rack up 27 points. With that strong performance, Newcomb is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorian Pullen, who posted 12 points and eight assists.

Lakes was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They are 16-7 when they've passed the ball that well.

Lakes' record is now 16-10. As for Grant Community, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-11 record.

Coming up, Lakes and Vernon Hills will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for Grant Community, they will welcome Grayslake North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
