Oxnard proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 35) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-25 victory over the Ventura Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since October 16, 2024.

Ava Ortman and Mya Rodriguez certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ortman threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns, while Rodriguez picked up 146 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Ortman is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's played. A healthy portion of Ortman's aerial production (109 yards to be exact) also went to Riley Hotzler.
Oxnard has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Ventura, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.
