Baseball Game Preview: Grundy Golden Wave vs. Montcalm Generals

The Grundy Golden Wave will face off against the Montcalm Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grundy has three straight victories, Montcalm has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Grundy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Council with a sharp 23-3 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Golden Wave with their most commanding win of the season.

Talan Hall was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Logan Mullins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Grundy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Council only posted an OBP of .474.

Meanwhile, Montcalm came up short against Twin Valley on Thursday, falling 23-9.

Grundy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Montcalm, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Grundy took their victory against Montcalm in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Golden Wave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
