Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Xavier Prep). They had just enough and edged the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs out  68-66. The  victory was all the more spectacular given the Saints' disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 939th, while the Mighty Arabs are ranked 318th).
 Despite the  loss, Coachella Valley had strong showings from  Israel Garcia, who  posted 23  points, and  Franky Aguirre, who  scored 15  points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Mark Gonzalez, who  put up six points.
Xavier Prep has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games,  which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record  this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Coachella Valley, their defeat  ended  a  four-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 7-2.
 Xavier Prep and Stevenson will round out the year against one another at  at 8:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Coachella Valley, they will finish  2024 at home by hosting Palo Verde Valley  at 12:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
