With a playoff win on the line, Fredericksburg rose to the challenge  on Friday. They put the hurt on the La Vernia Bears with a sharp  14-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Billies, who have now won 14 matchups by eight  runs or more  so far this season.
 Ava Stuewe made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out 11 batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned runs off   five  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-5 with three  RBI and one  triple.
 In other batting news,  Brindle Wolfe was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Larryn Feuge, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  runs and two  RBI.
 Fredericksburg was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .333 or higher in nine consecutive  contests.
Fredericksburg pushed their record up to 21-9 with the  win, which was their 11th straight  at home. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for La Vernia,  the  defeat snapped their winning streak at six games  and leaves them with a 24-8 record.
Fredericksburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
