Volleyball Game Preview: Elmwood Trojans vs. Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans

Elmwood has gone a perfect 7-0 against Bushnell-Prairie City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Trojans will square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elmwood has six straight victories, Bushnell-Prairie City has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Cuba/Spoon River Valley came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Elmwood, but Wren Kellenberger wouldn't allow it. The Trojans walked away with a 2-0 win over the Wildcats on Thursday for which the team can thank Kellenberger, who had 11 digs. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Elmwood didn't let Cuba/Spoon River Valley take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 27-25.

Meanwhile, Bushnell-Prairie City came up short against Abingdon/Avon on Tuesday and fell 2-0.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-9.

Bushnell-Prairie City's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Elmwood, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

Elmwood beat Bushnell-Prairie City 2-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
