Softball Recap: Monte Alto Drops Highest Score of Season Against IDEA Edinburg College Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monte Alto). They put the hurt on IDEA Edinburg College Prep with a sharp 38-14 win on Tuesday. The Blue Devil haven't had any issues with IDEA Edinburg College Prep recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Monte Alto got a massive performance out of Leah Estevanes, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most RBI Estevanes has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eriel Gomez, who scored five runs and stole four bases while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances.

Monte Alto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as IDEA Edinburg College Prep only posted a batting average of .174.

The win got Monte Alto back to even at 2-2. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Alto will venture away from home to take on Hebbronville on Friday. As for IDEA Edinburg College Prep, they will head out to square off against Falfurrias at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
