Softball Game Preview: Benzie Central Huskies vs. Traverse City West Titans

The Benzie Central Huskies will face off against the Traverse City West Titans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Benzie Central will be strutting in after a victory while Traverse City West will be coming in after a defeat.

Traverse City West will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Benzie Central extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Huskies came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against Onekama. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Traverse City West was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Traverse City Central.

Grace Shedlock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Traverse City West saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney Witkop, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Maddie Shedlock also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Benzie Central pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Traverse City West, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
