Basketball Game Preview: Walsh Eagles vs. Manzanola Bobcats

The Walsh Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Manzanola Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Walsh is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Stanton County on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Walsh was dealt a 65-33 loss at the hands of Stanton County. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Walsh had strong showings from Hudson Gourley, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and seven boards, and Cody Malone, who posted seven points along with 18 rebounds and five blocks. Malone is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games he's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Manzanola took on Aguilar on Wednesday. Manzanola came out on top against Aguilar by a score of 45-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.

Manzanola's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Walsh, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Walsh against Manzanola in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-16 victory. In that contest, Walsh amassed a halftime lead of 32-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
