Soccer Game Preview: Rivera vs. Porter

The Rivera Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Porter Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rivera will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

If Rivera beats Porter with three goals on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Raiders came out on top against Donna by a score of 3-1 on Friday. Given Rivera's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Donna are ranked 476th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Porter's game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Donna North by a score of 1-0. Porter haven't had much luck with Donna North recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Porter's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-4-1. As for Rivera, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-3.

Rivera skirted past Porter 2-1 in their previous matchup on January 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
