Winning always takes teamwork, but on Wednesday Conner Somogye stepped things up a notch to give Newcomerstown the 'W'. Somogye went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI, which was good enough to set a new career-high in stolen bases.
Somogye's strong effort led Newcomerstown over Malvern and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are a perfect 3-0 against the Hornets going back to March of 2024, a lead they'll look to extend.
