Recap: Ayden - Grifton Chargers vs. West Craven Eagles
The Ayden - Grifton Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against West Craven, falling 72-17. Ayden - Grifton has not had much luck with West Craven recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
West Craven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shalawn Yates led the charge by scoring 24 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yates has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Torvonyah Heggie, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds.
Ayden - Grifton has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for West Craven, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-1.
Ayden - Grifton will head out on the road to take on Farmville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Farmville Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ayden - Grifton in North Carolina (Farmville Central is ranked 221st, while Ayden - Grifton is ranked 544th). As for West Craven, they will be playing at home against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
