Softball Game Preview: Piedmont Community Charter Patriots vs. Cherokee Braves

The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots will take on the Cherokee Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Piedmont Community Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Gray Stone Day 17-2. The Patriots are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.

Piedmont Community Charter let Julianna East and Evangeline East run wild. Julianna went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Evangeline got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave Evangeline a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailee Roper, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Piedmont Community Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gray Stone Day only posted an OBP of .421.

Meanwhile, Cherokee came into Tuesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on South Davidson with a sharp 19-4 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Braves considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Piedmont Community Charter pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cherokee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
