Softball Game Preview: Potts Camp Cardinals vs. Strayhorn Mustangs

The Potts Camp Cardinals will square off against the Strayhorn Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Potts Camp is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Potts Camp barely beat Strayhorn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Potts Camp's pitcher stepped up to hand Strayhorn an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Zoey Clark, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Charlie Holmes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Clark wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Potts Camp kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Potts Camp's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Strayhorn, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.
