Soccer Game Preview: Salem vs. Louisville

The Salem Quakers will be taking part in a tournament against the Louisville Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.6 goals per game this season.

Salem is headed into Wednesday's match following a draw, the team's first since September 4. They and Sandy Valley finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Thursday.

Jake Davis and Venjamin Gallardo scored both of Salem's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, Louisville kept a clean sheet against Cuyahoga Falls on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Black Tigers. Given Louisville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Cuyahoga Falls are ranked 417th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Louisville pushed their record up to 7-7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. Salem's draw makes their record 11-3-3 this season.

Salem suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Louisville when the teams last played back in August of 2024. Can the Quakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
