Merrillville added to the longest winning streak in Duneland this week by beating Chesterton, 31-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Pirates.
Michigan City made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,435 from 7,678. The advance stemmed from a 37-29 victory over the Wolves last week.
Hashim Simpson was a passing and rushing force as Portage defeated LaPorte.
Gage Pearman put up the best numbers through the air as the Indians topped the Slicers. He finished with 6 completions for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns.
6-foot-2 quarterback Pearman of Portage is the league leader in passing yards this season with 940. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Michael Rastovic. The Valparaiso star has 37 catches for 502 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Crown Point takes on Lake Central. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in fourth, while the Indians are in second.
