Recap: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs
The Mooresville Pioneers were the 56-51 winner over the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mooresville took a hard 60-42 fall against Franklin Community on Friday. While losing is never fun, Mooresville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Franklin Community is ranked fifth).
Mooresville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kalyn Bunch, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Randee Garringer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrey Runyon, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Erica Buening, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Mooresville and nudges their season record down to 14-4. As for Franklin Community, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mooresville will take on Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin Community, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
