Pope County had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Crab Orchard Trojans. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Hunter Steele, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Severs, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Crab Orchard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Pope County since Thursday.

On Crab Orchard's side, Gavin Shaw was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Shaw has hit this season. Cayden Travelstead was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Pope County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-1 defeat against Johnston City on the 8th. As for Crab Orchard, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Gallatin County on the 7th.
