Softball Recap: Providence Hall Has No Trouble Against North Summit

Providence Hall won the last time they faced North Summit and things went their way on Saturday too. The Patriots put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Patriots have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Taycee Metts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Madelyn Johnson and Alysa Marcek did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Marcek went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aspyn Patterson-Bodell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Providence Hall and bumps their season record up to 13-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for North Summit, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Looking ahead, Providence Hall will venture away from home to take on Judge Memorial Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Summit does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
