Softball Recap: Mcgavock Beats Antioch for Their Third Straight Victory

McGavock had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Antioch Bears by a score of 7-4. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-3 win back in April.

Amanda Toth made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Toth wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kayleann Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

McGavock's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Antioch, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.

McGavock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Antioch, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Cane Ridge at 6:00 p.m. The Ravens have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.62 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
